Sweet Rewards on a Monday Night

We did it! As a family we finally got through our first book in the Book of Mormon (1 Nephi). While this might not seem very impressive to most of you, let me tell you it was quite the achievement. We decided at the first of the year to "really" read the scriptures as a family, so we put our heads together and decided that the best way to accomplish this is to make it a habit with a reward after each book read. So after dinner, we started to just read one scripture each and now we read regularly one page each night as a family. Isabelle gets to choose who reads which scriptures and we all mark along as we go. So the reward is IceCream at the local Friendly's ice cream shop (East coast chain). For family night we took cookies over to two families (one member, one non-member) and rang the door and ran (it has a nice story that goes along with it to encourage them to do the same for someone else for family night). Heather made some yummy sugar cookies decorated and shaped like pumpkins. Then we went to Friendly's and had dinner and icecream. It was a fabulous family night and reward well earned.

Good job, keep up the good work. You are great examples of what we should all be doing. I would love to get that story you sent with the cookies...email: hallsha@slrmc.org

Hey Adams family --

Props for the BoM reading. We only go 10 verses a day right now. And that's after we've restrained our girls in handcuffs and straight jackets. I don't know how you make it through 3 pages a night with Isabelle!
